Capture Collective Essex – a different way to network and get new headshots

May 27, 2026 | Branding

There’s something about both networking and having your photo taken that can feel a bit intimidating. Not enough to stop you doing it completely, but enough to make you put it off.

That’s really where Capture Collective came from.

I wanted to create something that didn’t feel like a typical networking event or a typical photoshoot. Something a bit more relaxed, where you could show up, meet people and create content for your business without overthinking it.

What actually happens

Each session is kept small, with just 6 business owners. We meet at a really lovely location — the next one is in Mistley on 5th June 2026. Book your space here so you don’t miss out!

We walk, chat and stop along the way to capture natural headshots. Nothing too posed, just you talking, moving and being yourself, which is usually when the best photos happen.

After that, we head inside for the second half. This gives a slightly different feel to the images, with more time for individual headshots in a relaxed indoor space, while everyone gets to know each other a bit more.

Why it works so well

What I’ve found is that it very quickly stops feeling like a group of strangers. People naturally start supporting each other, stepping in as models, helping with content and just generally making it feel easier.

Having that bit of moral support makes a huge difference. You’re not standing on your own in front of a camera, and that’s usually when people start to relax.

It’s also a really easy way to get a mix of content in one go. As well as your headshots, there are always little behind-the-scenes clips and moments being captured, which work really well for social media because they feel natural and not overly polished.

More than just photos

You obviously come away with images for your business, but it’s often more than that.

A couple of hours out of your normal routine, being outside, talking to people who understand what running a business feels like, and actually doing something for your business without pressure. It’s a bit of a reset.

The next session

If you’ve been putting off getting photos, or the idea of a typical shoot just isn’t your thing, this might feel like a nicer way to do it.

The next Capture Collective is on 5th June 2026 in Mistley, and I’ll be sharing a bit more from behind the scenes over on Instagram if you want to see how it all works.
